Public Health Ministry: 34 civilian deaths linked to border clashes, 213,072 in shelters

Thailand’s Public Health Ministry says 34 civilian deaths have been linked to the Thai-Cambodian border clashes from December 7–21, 2025, including one person killed directly, while 889 shelters have opened for more than 213,000 evacuees.

The Public Health Ministry on Sunday updated the toll of the Thai-Cambodian border clashes on civilians, reporting one person killed directly and 33 deaths linked indirectly to the fighting.

The ministry said that from December 7–21, 2025, the clashes affected members of the public as follows:

  • 33 deaths from indirect impacts related to the fighting
  • 1 civilian killed in a Cambodian attack
  • 6 civilians injured in Cambodian attacks

It added that the clashes prompted the opening of 889 shelters for 213,072 people.

The fighting also affected 20 district hospitals and 199 tambon hospitals, the ministry said.
